Scarlett Johansson's ad was banned from the Super Bowl!

Actress Scarlett Johansson’s new ad for beverage firm SodaStream has been banned from the Super Bowl telecast this weekend because it mocks the event’s main sponsor, Pepsi. The star recently signed on as the face of the brand and filmed a TV spot, in which she uses the SodaStream machine to make herself a fizzy drink and seductively sips the beverage through a straw.

The Super Bowl ad bosses had no problems with sexy Scarlett, but they didn’t like the end of the ad, when the actress utters an apology to SodaStream’s competitors: “Sorry Coke and Pepsi,” and now the 30-second clip has been rejected by broadcasting bosses at Fox, the network that will air Sunday’s big football game.
Johansson’s deal with SodaStream has already attracted headlines for other reasons – this week the actress was forced to defend her decision to represent the Israel-based firm while maintaining her role as an Oxfam Ambassador amid the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.It seems its celebrity ambassador, Scarlett Johansson, has signed an advertising deal with SodaStream International Ltd, an Isreali company operating in the West Bank. According to the blog, The Electronic Intifada, the move has caused an "internal revolt" at Oxfam and the organisation's own website alludes to the conflicted position it finds itself in:
"We are proud of our relationship with Scarlett Johansson [and] Oxfam respects the independence of our ambassadors. However Oxfam believes that businesses that operate in settlements further the ongoing poverty and denial of rights of the Palestinian communities that we work to support. Oxfam is opposed to all trade from Israeli settlements, which are illegal under international law."
Despite the high profile of both the NGO and its celebrity ambassador, this would just be internal politics, under unique circumstances – except, of course, it isn't. Development researcher, Jonathan Glennie, tweeted as he shared the Electronic Intifada blog: "Was same when I was at @savechildrenuk."
And there are other examples of staff concerned about what affliation with a particular celebrity could mean. A Unicef officer in New Delhi isquoted in the Guardian as saying: "It's bad enough having to accommodate celebrities and their entourage in the aftermath of every major humanitarian disaster. But when most people think of the UN now they think of Angelina Jolie on a crusade, not the work that goes on in the field after humanitarian disasters or on a long-term preventive level."
While there is no doubt that celebrity endorsement yields financial dividends for NGOs and can raise the profile of a cause, it can also infuriate staff and create tensions with communities in which the organisation works. So what should Oxfam do? Take our poll and tell us your experiences or thoughts on celebrities and NGOs in the comment threads below.

Phone-hacking trial: Jude Law on Sienna Miller, Daniel Craig!

Jude Law rang his friend and fellow actor Daniel Craig to confront him over his 2005 affair with Sienna Miller, the phone hacking trial has heard.
The 41-year-old star gave evidence at the Old Bailey today and was asked about whether he suspected his friends and family had leaked details of his private life to the Press.
Jude Law and Sienna Miller, phone hacking trial
Asked if he was aware at any time that a member of his "immediate family" was talking to the News of the World, he said: "I was aware later around 2011, maybe later than that, at the time I was approached about the case that the News of the World had been in contact with people in my family, trying to find things out, asking for quotes."Asked if he knew the family member was getting paid, he said: "I have never been aware of that, getting paid for it."The first he knew of that was today, in the court, he said.He told the court he first became aware of rumours of the affair around the time the couple went to Ms Miller's sister Savanah's wedding in the West Country.

Law was shown News of the World articles headlined "Sienna Cheats On Jude" and "Layer Fake".He told the court he had telephoned Craig to confront him about the affair and suggest he should tell his own girlfriend about it.
But he could not remember whether that was before or after the paper broke the story and he had not left a voicemail about it.
Asked if he was aware that anyone around him was leaking stories, he said: "No, I did not know that anyone around me was talking to the newspapers, although I suspected it because there was such a flow of information... I suspected many people over that period of time."
Jude Law 'confronted' Daniel Craig about Sienna Miller affair
he lawyer wrote down a name of a source on a piece of paper to show the witness.
"I was made aware very recently that there had been some kind of communication with this person and several others in and around and about this period of time. I was never aware any money had been exchanged."
Law told the jury the media had "an unhealthy amount of information" about his life and that packs of photographers would follow him around even when he made secret arrangements.
He described how press attention began to intensify when he was nominated for an Oscar for The Talented Mr Ripley in 2001.
It grew throughout his divorce from Sadie Frost and then during his relationship with actress Sienna Miller, he told the court.
Sitting in the witness box in wood-pannelled Court 12, Law said: "There seemed to be an unhealthy amount of information that people, or someone, had that meant they had access to my life and my whereabouts."
He said when police showed him notes that private investigator Glenn Mulcaire held about him, he "was shocked to see the amount of information that had been accumulated", but he added: "Sadly it didn't surprise me because it seemed apparent from what had been written (in the press)."
Law, wearing a grey suit, white shirt and blue spotted tie, told the jury that from around 2001 photographers would gather at his home.
"Around 2001 and over the following four or five years the daily appearance of packs of photographers either on the street or in cars became a very regular occurrence."
He added: "I became aware that I was also turning up at places having arranged to go there secretly ... and the media were already there, or photographers were already there."

Miley Cyrus at Clive Davis' 2014!

The Grammys have always been a place of reinvention where artists test out new looks but some of the best ones have been decidedly non-bold-- the makeunders. Recall Rihanna’s pin-up moment last year with her soft waves and natural makeup that really let her siren red Alaïa gown shine. Well, Miley has taken a page out of Rih’s lookbook and emerged with an uber fem platinum sideswept pixie look.
This might be our favorite Miley ‘do yet. Perfectly matched with a ‘90s throwback outfit -- how Cher Horowitz is that minimalist slip dress and strappy sandals combo? And you knowAmber would wear that shag cardi -- Miley’s sweet-side look for Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy gala last night is understated pretty. But, Miley being Miley, who knows how long this look will last? *Looks at watch, sees five hours to go till the red carpet* Oh wait, I guess we’ll know soon!
